Sonali is a passionate and seasoned singer, songwriter, musician and entertainer with a heart full of stories and melodies.
Born and raised in the vibrant island nation of Sri Lanka, Sonali’s passion for music began at a young age and has since blossomed into a dynamic, international career spanning continents and cultures. With her soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and a deep connection to her roots, Sonali has been captivating audiences for over a decade.
She stepped into the world of professional music at the age of 20, by composing original songs which were televised on a popular TV station ITN where after her career took a turn where she was picked to perform with a renown band King’s & later Friend’s , quickly earning a name for herself within Sri Lanka’s music industry. Her talent and magnetic stage presence soon took her beyond her homeland, leading her to tour extensively across Europe and Scandinavia, enchanting crowds in Germany, Switzerland, Finland, and Holland.
Having been based in Germany for a significant part of her career, Sonali immersed herself in the European music scene, performing in iconic venues throughout Germany and Switzerland. Her multicultural experiences have shaped her sound—a unique blend of Eastern soul and Western rhythm, infused with authenticity, warmth, and raw emotion.
Today, Sonali continues her musical journey in Melbourne, Australia, where she performs both as a freelance artist and alongside her talented band, “Sonali & The Escape”. Her live performances are known for their emotional intensity, infectious energy, and a spirit that speaks directly to the heart of her listeners.
